Mad Art Gallery proudly presents a night of great music with The Commoners on Thursday, October 11, 2008, from 8:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. The Commoners is a project spearheaded by drummer Brian Sullivan and pianist Nazeer Holmes. Sullivan and Holmes have worked together for the last 2 years to developing their own sound within the "Jazz" genre and The Commoners seems to be the result. The ensemble includes woodwind players Eirik Cheverud and Lou Goldford on alto sax, tenor sax, flutes, bass clarinet, and baritone saxophone, plus St. Louis Legend Darrell Mixon on electric and Acoustic Bass, Brian Sullivan on drums, and Nazeer Holmes on piano/composer. Modern Jazz, free jazz, avant-garde, minimalism, traditional, through composed are indicative of The Commoners. The high energy and relentless grooves of the rhythm section is then colored and textured with the trance-inducing interaction between the two woodwinds. Put it all together and you have a fun group of guys making great music. The Commoners are not to be missed. This is a free event open to all ages. Cash bar available.
