The Art of Food is a benefit for Slow Food St. Louis, a non-profit organization whose aim is to protect the pleasures of the table from the homogenization of modern fast food and life. Through a variety of initiatives, it promotes gastronomic culture, develops taste education, conserves agricultural biodiversity and protects traditional foods at risk of extinction. The event showcases the area's top restaurants serving delectable hors d'ouvres using only the freshest, local ingredients prepared by the hottest chefs in the slow food tradition in Mad Art's main gallery. The night will also feature a silent auction of food-themed art by local artists, gift baskets filled with a variety of specialty goodies from boutiques, wineries and restaurants. Enjoy cool drinks, fashion with a food edge and savory morsels of music and video clips from classic to corny for your viewing pleasure. Ticket are $30 cash at the door or $20 in advance at www.brownpapertickets.com. One drink is included in ticket price, cash bar available. Slow Food members receive $5 in free raffle tickets. In addition to Brown Paper Tickets, advance tickets/will call available at Mad Art Gallery and at the following Farmers' Markets: Saturday, July 14th - Clayton Farmer's Market; Wednesday, July 18th - Bottleworks; Saturday, July 21st - Clayton Farmer's Market and Tower Grove Market.
