Mad Art is proud to welcome Prison Performing Arts. If you are not already familiar with the incredible work this organization does, please take this opportunity to become acquainted with this very special group. We all agree that art is a positive force that can change lives. Prison Performing Arts practices that belief in a very big way by introducing art into our State's correctional facilities for the purpose of delivering hope and change to the lives of Missouri inmates. Prison Performing Arts has been featured on This American Life with Ira Glass. We hope you will come to Hot Night in the City to learn about and support this important organization. Prison Performing Arts presents Hot Night in the City on August 10, 2007, at Mad Art Gallery. Hot Night in the City celebrates the power of Prison Performing Arts. Come and learn about the impact the arts has in transforming lives of incarcerated children and adults. Experience their work first hand through photography by Nan Rochberg and Durb Curlee, spoken word performances by the Alumni Theatre Company, and an interactive drumming session with Kunama. The evening's festivities will include a picnic dinner, free beer and wine, and dancing to music ranging from Big Band to Hip Hop. A silent auction will feature a dog birthday party by Hot Diggity Dog, political buttons from historical presidential campaigns, gift certificates from restaurants including Duff's, Riddle's Penultimate Cafe and Wine Bar, and Franco, handcrafted art jewelry by Alice Senturia, and more. Tickets are $35 per person and include dinner and an open beer, wine and soda bar. This event occurs on Friday, August 10 from 7:00pm to 11:00 pm. For more information or to purchase tickets, please visit Prison Performing Arts online. Prison Performing Arts is dedicated to enriching the lives of adults and youth in the Missouri criminal and juvenile justice systems. We foster individual and social change by providing current and former inmates opportunities to participate in the performing arts as artists, students and audience members. Prison Performing Arts is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization. Any amount in excess of $10 per person may be considered a charitable donation for income tax purposes. If no goods or services are provided in exchange for your contribution, the full amount may be considered a charitable donation.
