Opening Reception for Personal Narratives - work by Teri Moore and Erin Rivers

Friday, May 8

7 pm to 11 pm

Mad Art Gallery proudly presents Personal Narratives work by Teri Moore and Erin Rivers.

Teri Moore works in a variety of mediums, often reusing material, giving it a new life. Moore describes her work as material and concept. Moore uses unusual material in unusual juxtapositions to support a concept. Staples and string are the framework of Moore's drawings and paintings. The random application of the staples from behind the painting surface controls the application of the string, causing Moore to relinquish some control over how the images appear.

Teri Moore earned her BA in Art from MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Illinois, in 1998, and her MS in Education and Art Methods from Quincy University in Quincy, Illinois, in 1999.

Erin Rivers can recall few details of the automobile accident that nearly took her life. Using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans as raw material, Rivers constructed an internal self portrait, which later evolved into a narrative that attempts to fills the gaps between the facts she knows and the unknown that she cannot recall.

Erin Rivers received her BA in Studio Art from Webster University in 2001 and her MA in Media Communications from Webster University in 2005.

This exhibit opens on Friday, May 8, 2009, and continues through May 31, 2009. Please join us for a free opening reception on Friday, May 8, 2009, from 7:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m.
