Mad Art Gallery is proud to welcome Echolocation Recordings as they present BioSonar, their inaugural festival featuring dozens of regional artists from the improv, experimental, electroacoustic, free, deep listening, eclectic, concrete, new music, avant garde, noise, drone, field recording, and lowercase genres, along with some music that cannot be categorized. Regional artists will also present literature and video art. To make the day complete, Echolocation invites you to join in the potluck indoor picnic. Bring your blanket and stretch out to enjoy the various approaches to non-traditional music while you dine on potluck delights provided by Echolocation and audience members. Apop Records, located on Cherokee Street in St. Louis, will be on hand with a selection of music available for purchase. This festival is like no other that has ever been held in St. Louis, and it promises to be a great event. Performers include Peanuts, made up of Jeremy Brantlinger, Eric Hall, and Nazeer Sadeeq Holmes, recently featured in St. Louis Magazine. Also perfroming: Ghost Ice, Mike Pitts, Y Toros, Andrew Hefner, Raglani, Bill Emerson of Grandpa's Ghost, Ajay Khanna of Brain Transplant, Mark Sarich, Worm Hands, Dave Stone, Joseph Potthoff, Tony Renner/Learn Artist!, James Weber, Jr. of Julia Sets and Museum Mutters, Catholic Guilt, and more to be announced. Admission to this event is $7, or free if you bring a covered dish that serves ten people. Mad Art's liquor license forbids outside beverages, but a cash bar will be available. Some refrigeration will be available, and be sure to mark your dishes with your name. Mad Art Gallery is a no smoking facility, smoking is allowed only in the outdoor courtyard. All ages welcome.
