The St. Louis Chapter of the Women's Caucus for Arts presents the biennial Contemporary Women Artist Exhibition XIV at Mad Art Gallery. Nationally known artist, Judy Onofrio juried this year's international competition and exhibition which runs from September 7 to 29.

From over 200 submissions and 4 site-specific installation proposals, Onofrio chose 55 pieces and 3 installations for the exhibition, "Because I believe that risk taking is essential to the growth of an artist, I found myself drawn to work that seemed to be on the brink of a significant breakthrough or discovery. The work reflected in this exhibition dealt not only with feminist issues but more personal and universal ones as well."

Onofrio is a self-taught artist whose "artistic interests have ranged from the formal to the naïve to the outrageous." Her work can be seen internationally. "Aside from the extravagance of color, surface ornamentation, and ever-present sense of humor, each work tells a story of utopian wishes and dreams, a saga of seduction, duality and temptation." You can learn more about Judy Onofrio by visiting her website.

In addition to jurying the exhibition, Onofrio will present a lecture on her work on Thursday, September 6 at the Regional Arts Commission and will conduct a gallery talk at Mad Art the day of the exhibit's Opening Reception, Friday, September 7.
